There were many people who helped to get the typewriter to what it became. Henry Mill was an engineer at the New River company who sought out ways to write faster and he eventually invented the first type of a typewriter. Charles Tuber then came along and invented a machine that could help the blind read through imprinting letters on a page that stuck out. None of this compares to Christopher Latham Sholes who invented the first totally working typewriter that went on the market. Samuel W. Soule worked with Christopher to create a number printing machine. This lead them to the idea of a letter printing machine which later became the first typewriter. They sold there patent to the Remington company who later made many improvements and was one of the biggest names on the market for a long time to come.
